Linux ค่ายเดียวกันกับ RedHat ทั้ง Centos และ Fedora ก็จะมีไฟล์ redhat-release ซึ่งมันจะเก็บ version ไว้ข้างใน

# cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 5.5 (Final)

หรือถ้าจะเอาให้ แน่ใจเลยก็

# rpm -q centos-release
centos-release-5-5.el5.centos.1
